Atul Kulkarni is one of those few actors who have the power to make any character they play speak to the viewer’s deeper self. Born on September 10, 1965, in Belagavi, Karnataka, Kulkarni’s interest in acting developed at an early age. His association with theater began when he was in high school. During his time in D.A.V College, Solapur, he was an active participant in cultural gatherings. After college, he completed a post-graduate diploma course in dramatic arts from the National School of Drama in New Delhi. Kulkarni made his Bollywood debut in the 1997 film ‘Bandh Jharoke.’ He then went on to act in films in several languages including Hindi, English, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Telugu, etc. His most memorable films include ‘Hey Ram’ (2000), ‘Chandni Bar’ (2001), ‘Rang De Basanti’ (2006), etc. For his performances in ‘Hey Ram’ and ‘Chandni Bar,’ he won the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actor in 2000 and 2002 respectively.
